Monday: 6-7 miles at an 8 mpmp (minute per mile pace) intended to be a group run.

Tuesday: 5-8 mile tempo run. The first miles are together then everyone breaks up into groups according to their pace: 5:45 mpmp on up.

Wednesday: 5 miles 8-8:30 mpmp intended to be a recovery run. Everyone sticks together

Thursday: track workout at the Water Works Park Arboretum (USATF Certification Number IA01003MF*). A 1.5 mile warm-up followed by a variety of 400 - 1600m repeats.

Friday: 5-7 miles at 8 mpmp intended to be a group run.

Saturday (during pandemic) Winter Spring Training Group Sat. morning runs (see Drake area below) from 4 to 20 miles from brginning January thru May., (2-3 distances each week. "Team Vardo" runs. Group runs on Tuesdays (5:30 PM), Thursdays (5:30 PM), and Saturdays (times vary). The Tuesday runs begin at the Ames City Hall Community Center. The start location for the Thursday and Saturday runs varies. Weekday runs are generally three to seven miles in length. Saturday runs are generally six to ten miles. 5th Annual Ames Parks and Recreation Dam to Dam Training Class - "Team 12.4"
Beginners meet on Tuesdays (short runs and training information) and Saturdays (long runs). New this year, workouts for more advanced runners will be held on Thursdays. Initial meetings will be held at the Ames Community Center, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames. Runners will receive a training calendar detailing future run locations during the first week.
Informational meeting on Tuesday, March 6th at 7:30pm; Class begins Tuesday, March 20th at 5:30pm and concludes with Dam to Dam.

On Tuesday evening, track workouts are at the Washington High School track at 6 pm.
Workout consistes of three phases. We start off with a 2 mile warm-up. This is followed with 3 miles of speed work incorporating 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile repeats.
We end with a 2 mile cool-down.
Thursdays:
On Thursday evening the group run will leave from the Nassif YMCA at 5:30 pm. Choose your distance!
Saturdays:
If no local race is scheduled...A group run leaves at 7:00 am. from Running Wild. Choose your distance!
Sundays:
On Sunday morning the group will meet at the Sac & Fox Trail at 8 am. Choose your distance!

Mt Pleasant

Sponsored by the Southeast Iowa Running Club

The Southeast Iowa Running Club meets every Monday night at 5:30 pm at the shelter at Eastlake Park for a group run. The pace is varied and the distance is generally 4 and up. Some nights circuit runs are done due to peoples time constraints. These runs occur from March to Oct. 15th only. Walkers are encouraged to join as well as parents bringing kids. There are usually other kids present. You do not have to be a member to run with the group.

Storm Lake

The Storm Lake Running Club meets on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the east parking lot of King's Point Resort. The runs begin promptly at 6:15. At approximately 7:15 we all meet back up on the patio of Regatta Grill for a post run social and an educational training-related presentation.
Runners of all ability levels are welcome to attend.
