The Phoenix Cedar Bridge 5K Run - Walk Results Oct. 2, 2004 Winterset, Ia. 50273 Thirteen year old Matt Cahalan, Winterset, ran a remarkable
performance on a very challenging 5K course a the 2004 Cedar Bridge Covered Bridge
Race. Cahalan an Winterset 8th grader out ran all competitors finishing the 3.1 miles
in 20:26. Ten seconds behind and in second place in the male division
was 53 year old Chuck Clark from Carroll in 20:36. In the Womenís division Carol Stephens from Beatrice,
NE., 40-44, finished first in 23:58 followed by second place Cheryl Dralle, DesMoines,
25-29, in 24:52. Franklin Brown, DesMoines, 60+ (actually heís 70 and
just entered a new age group) won the 5K Race Walk in a excellent time of 34:09.
Teresa Little, DesMoines, 40-44, was first for the Women division with a time of
47:49. The Bridge Race, sponsored by the Winterset Rotary Club,
was held at the newly rebuilt Cedar Covered Bridge, which was destroyed by fire after
an arson burnt it two years ago. This yearís race was dubbed ìThe Phoenix
Cedar Bridge Race. The course started at the bridge, then proceeded up the Country
Club Road, to the end of the Cedar Lake Road and back to the Cedar Bridge. All proceeds from the race go to support the Winterset City
Park Maze, which the Rotary Club has maintained and made improvements on for the
past seven years.. The Rotary Club would like to thank the financial sponsors who
